This is a journalism-based course first, with emphasis on personal interviews.
The Mass Communication program at San Joaquin Delta College focuses on teaching the basics of communicating messages to large audiences. The core of the program is The Collegian student newspaper.
Students entering the program are told from the beginning that the best stories are the ones that start with solid reporting. The Introduction to Multimedia course is no different.
Students are expected to build multimedia stories by going out in the community and reporting on it.
The basic story is to include video and audio interviews with three sources. Those interviews will be turned into a story, one two to three minute video, a photo gallery and one additional multimedia element.
